Individual Disability Insurance Underwriting Enhancements for California

To increase its individual disability insurance portfolio competitiveness in the California marketplace, Principal Life Insurance Company is making the following changes to the California Solutions II Underwriting Guidelines:

• Attorneys, judges and district attorneys will now be classified as the Select 5A Occupation Class, the top occupation class available at Principal Life, which makes them eligible for the 10% Select Occupation Discount.
• Maximum issue age for doctors and dentists is increasing:
  • from age 45 to age 60 for individual business.
  • from age 45 to age 64 for multi-life business.
• Benefit increase adjustments will now be accepted for inforce policies on doctors and dentists age 45 and over.
