MetLife also Announces a Change from 5I to a 5S for Orthodontists.
Effective immediately, for new applications, Orthodontists have been upgraded from occupational class 5I to class 5S.
For applications on Orthodontists currently pending in Underwriting
If you would like to upgrade from 5I to 5S, please send us a note indicating the applicants name and case number. For cases recently quoted but not yet submitted to Underwriting, please send us a copy of the original quote and we will prepare a requote for you.
For recently issued policies which have not yet been delivered or placed
To upgrade to 5S, please return the policy to us with a note indicating the request for a change to occ class 5S and any new benefit options wanted. Reissue/change would be subject to final underwriting review.
The above change applies to new business on a go-forward basis. The change in occ class does not apply to any issued policies already placed or any policy already inforce. It is not the intent of this change to replace or rewrite inforce policies.
The above changes affect only Orthodontists. All other dental specialists remain occupational class 5I, and general dentists remain occupational class 4M.
