Increased maximum benefit amounts

Effective immediately, maximum benefit amounts in relation to earnings at all income levels have increased for The Protector+SM and The Protector SM*. The chart below gives an example of how this change will affect income levels at the $100,000 through $350,000 range.

Pending business
Pending IDI applications that are in underwriting or have been recently issued, but not yet placed, may be eligible for the higher benefit amounts. Please contact your underwriter or underwriting assistant. Current policyholders who own active policies that may qualify for a higher benefit as a result of this announcement will need to submit a new, fully underwritten application requesting the additional benefit amounts.

Please note:In order for the update to function correctly, please check first to see if youhave illustration software version 2.22.0505 or 2.22.0509 installed on your system. If you have another version, choosing Full Software Download will automatically include update 191.

Introducing Second Chance UnderwritingSM

At The Standard we believe your hard-to-place customers deserve a second chance. We are pleased to announce Second Chance UnderwritingSM for The Protector+ and The Protector*.

Some of the features of Second Chance UnderwritingSM include:

  • Two and five-year benefit periods
  • 90, 180 and 365-day elimination periods
  • Noncancelable Rider (not available to occupation
    classes A & B in CA)
  • Residual Rider
  • All occupation classes
  • To Issue ages 18-60
  • The maximum issue and participation is $5,000 of IDI with all carriers
  • There is a maximum of 200% extra premium rating in addition to standard rates. (Regardless of tobacco use, applications under Second Chance UnderwritingSM will be given standard rates.) Non-smoker rates are not available.
