Effective immediately, issue limits for third and fourth year residents, and physician fellows, have increased from $3,500 to $5,000, with up to an additional $5,000 of Future Purchase Option (FPO) available.
- Limits for residents in their first or second year will remain at $3,500 with up to an additional $5,000 of FPO available.
- Pending IDI applications for third and fourth year residents and fellows that are in underwriting or have been recently issued, but not yet placed, may request the change. Please contact your underwriter or underwriting assistant.
- Current third and fourth year residents and fellows who own in force policies purchased at the prior benefit amount, who would like to increase their benefit as a result of this announcement, will need to submit a new, fully underwritten application requesting the difference.
Example A third or fourth year resident or fellow currently has an in force IDI policy with $3,500 of monthly benefit. The insured will need to submit a new application requesting the additional $1,500 monthly benefit taking the total benefit to $5,000.
